A Young Persons Prayer

God of Love and Mercy, I give you thanks for all the good things I enjoy.

When I feel anxious about the future, calm my fears.

When I doubt myself, give me courage and confidence.

When I feel sad and lonely, remind me that I can always turn to you as a friend.

Help me to find the path in life that will call forth the best in me.

May your spirit lead and guide me all the days of my life.

Amen.

A Traditional Catholic Prayer to Saint Brigid

Saint Brigid.

You were a woman of peace.

You brought harmony where there was conflict.

You brought light to the darkness.

You brought hope to the downcast.

May the mantle of your peace cover those who are troubled and anxious,

and may peace be firmly rooted in our hearts and in our world.

Inspire us to act justly and to reverence all God has made.

Brigid you were a voice for the wounded and the weary.

Strengthen what is weak within us.

Calm us into a quietness that heals and listens.

May we grow each day into greater wholeness in mind, body and spirit.

Amen.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is strange with its twists and turns

As everyone of us sometimes learns

And many a failure comes about

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace seems slow -

You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out -

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell just how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.”
